Mini Member Workshop: Getting the most of your photo reference

Cost: $25 includes most materials (See supplies list}, Workshop limited to 12 artists for GEAG members only.
Objective:
This workshop will guide painters on how to work expressively using photo references to create dynamic, painterly works. Participants will focus on methods of translating photographic images into energetic paintings rather than the stiff, lifeless results that often come from relying too heavily on copying detail, colors and composition of the original photo.
Workshop Goals:
- Brushwork and Texture: Focus on incorporating textured brushstrokes, layers, and color manipulation to add life to the painting.
- Emphasize Creativity: Encourage artists to move beyond trying to replicate the photo and instead focus on creating an expressive, painterly work.
- Confidence using Photo References: Provide guidance on fair use to help artists feel more confident in using photos as a springboard for creative expression.
