Avenue
of Art 2008 exhibition is dedicated to long-time
member Alma Dieckman in
gratitude for her devotion & service to GEAG.
Judge:
Bill Vann
Mr. Vann has been a professional
illustrator and educator for more than 44 years
and continues to operate Bill Vann Studio in the
Soulard neighborhood of St. Louis, MO. Widely
recognized as a Sports Marketing Illustrator, he
has also established himself in the fields of
portraiture, realistic imagery, humorous, and
highly stylized technique.
Bill Vann has received over 45
national and regional illustration awards. His
work has been published in Communication Arts,
Print, Art Direction, Chicago Flash and Step By
Step Graphics. A partial list of client
experience includes: Anheuser Busch, NFL
Properties, Coca Cola Co., McDonalds Corp., U.S.
Naval Academy, Ringling Brothers, Walt Disney,
and United Airlines.
Bill Vann serves on the Board of
Governors and is chair of the illustration
section of the St. Louis Artists Guild. He is a
graduate of Washington University. He has served
on the faculties of Washington University,
Webster University, Fontbonne University and
Meramec Community College. He has conducted
illustration seminars in Europe, Malaysia and
Singapore as well as the USA for Dynamic Graphics
Educational Foundation.

Rules for Awards
1. An
entrant may win only one major award.
2.
Awards will be assigned at the discretion of the
judge. People's Choice is awarded by public vote.
The Shrine Director selects the Shrine Award.
3.
Eligible works must be the original work of the
exhibiting artist, completed within the last two
years and not previously entered in a GEAG
competition. Work must not infringe on copyrights
or works of another, nor be completed under
instruction.
Requirements
1.
Art work will be received at the Shrine Visitors
Center between 11:00 A.M.- 4:00 P.M., Fri, July
18, 2008 and 11A.M.-1:00P.M., Sat, July 19, 2008.
2.
All work must be framed as appropriate to the
medium. Hanging work must have wire properly
attached; no saw tooth hangers or clips.
3.
Two dimensional work may not exceed 30 inches in
any dimension including the frame. Three
dimensional work may not exceed 30" in any
dimension nor weigh more than 50 pounds and must
fit through a standard doorway.
4.
GEAG reserves the right to reject deficiently
prepared work and work that is considered
unsuitable for display. Fees will be forfeited.
No nudes will be accepted for this show.
5.
GEAG & the Shrine will safeguard artwork with
due diligence but do not take responsibility for
damage beyond its control.
6.
All work must remain the entire length of the
show. Purchased work may be removed at the time
of sale by the purchaser. The selling artist may
replace the sold piece with another piece within
2 days, or a GEAG member call list
can be utilized.
7.
Artists selling their work during the Show will
provide a 25% donation to the Missionary Oblates
of Mary Immaculate in support of the Shrine.
8.
Application must be postmarked by July 2, 2008.
Late applications will not be accepted. If
exhibit space reaches capacity, excess
applications will be returned.
9.
Submission of an entry implies consent to all
terms.
10.
GEAG members are expected to contribute a minimum
of 2 hours of their time and efforts towards the
success of this Show.

Art
work in any fine art medium may be submitted for
consideration, and will be accepted at the
discretion of the show committee.
Art
work with a religious subject &/or with a
representation of the Shrine, should be marked as
a Shrine entry.
In
order to better understand the creative process
involved in the many and varied works that will
be submitted, all artists are asked to provide a description
of the artistic process for each piece
entered. An oil painting may be described as
oil on canvas. A photographic entry
could be accurately described as a 35 mm
color print or as a digital photo
with color enhancement, printed on canvas.
R
E T R I E V A L Artists
may retrieve their work on Fri, Aug 22, between
5-7pm., or on Sat, Aug 23, between 11am - 2pm.
Any unclaimed work becomes the property of GEAG.
