Rose Veile
I work in
research as a staff scientist in Human
Genetics at Washington University in St.
Louis, Mo. My lab studies human diseases such
as hearing loss, craniofacial development and
skeletal abnormalities. I am hopeful
that my contributions to these studies
may help those afflicted by these diseases
and their families. In addition, I have
always loved art. Now that my children are
young adults and independent, I have more
time to learn how to become a better artist.
I enjoy working in many mediums. Don Bevirt
has taught me photography and how to
make my own gelatin silver prints. In
addition, I love to draw and have studied
with Robert Maguire SWIC instructor, and from
Jason Hoeing & Brigham Dimick at
SIUE. Dave Woesthaus, SWIC, has taught me how
to use acrylic paints and Jesse Thomas,
SIUE, has taught me how to use oils in
figurative works.I have studied ceramics with
Todd May from SWIC. My husband is my greatest
supporter and harshest critic. He is a very
gifted architect and I value his
opinions. I have enjoyed being in many shows
and a few publications. Some of these are:

Statement
There is a very close association for me
between science and art. Both require much
thought, creativity, the use of proven or
developing methods and strong observational
skills to complete a project. I think by
studying any subject in depth helps the
observer to better understand and appreciate
more completely the world that we live in.
