Beth Meier
Beth has had an
interest in art since childhood. Her
mother was an artist and her first
teacher. She remembers that her Mom
would paint a landscape from memory in one
afternoon. With this inspiration she
hopes to be as good as her Mom someday. After
raising 2 children, Beth began taking art
classes 14 years ago. She works full
time as a Lab Technologist but finds time for
art and other creative processes. Her
favorite mediums are colored pencil and
pastel, but also works with charcoal and
watercolor. A GEAG member since 2001,
she is primarily self taught but has taken
workshops with Southern Illinois Art
Workshop, Inc. and with artist Jerry Thomas.
She has entered the Town and Country Art
Shows and received a 1st on "The Apple
Basket" 1999, "Cherokee Trail,
Hazlet State Park" 2000 and "Sunlit
Scene" in 2001. At the GEAG State
of Art 2002 Spring Show, she received 1st
place in the drawing category for "Still
Life in Earthtones". In 2003 she
received 3rd place at the First Silver Lake
Art Expo in Highland,Il for "Balloon

Artist
Statement
I enjoy the
unique beauty of nature. A colorful
flower garden, a refreshing country
scene or a peaceful valley surrounded by
majestic mountains inspire me to create that
image for others to enjoy. I also like
vivid colors and interesting arrangements
of flowers, fruit, baskets and other
items. Mostly I feel at peace and the
happiest when creating art.
